Completing and submitting a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the single most important thing you can do to get help paying for college. Based on your FAFSA application, you could qualify for grants, work-study, and student loans.

You’ll need your tax information (both yours and your parents) to complete the FAFSA. The 2017-18 FAFSA (for financial aid between Fall 2017 and summer 2018) became available on October 1, 2016. If you plan on attending college before the fall of 2018, you will need to fill out the 2018-18 FAFSA as well as the 2018-19 FAFSA (available on October 1st, 2017).

The 2018-19 FAFSA is the application for federal financial aid usable between fall semester 2018 to summer semester 2019.
