Utah College Application Week: High school seniors, it’s time to apply to college

By Maureen Brakke on November 5, 2015

High School seniors: Utah College Application Week (UCAW) is right around the corner and we hope you’re ready!

What is Utah College Application Week?

Starting the week of Nov. 9-20, 2015, all Utah high school seniors in partner schools will be able to apply to college during the school day.  The main focus of UCAW is to help students who are first in their families to attend college, low-income students, or students who otherwise might not even consider applying to college.

Partner high schools will have staff and volunteers ready to help you fill out a college application. The goal is to have you start your college application that day, but many college applications take a while to complete, so you might not finish it the same day. You might be able to if you are prepared.

Below are some tips to help make your college application process go smoothly:

How to make your college application process go smoothly-

Here are a list of things you will need for your college application. Make sure you have all of these (or most of these) before you start your application. Links to all the Utah college and university applications are also on that page.

If your high school isn’t a partner school with UCAW, or you still need more help with your college application, here are some more tips:

  • Get help from your high school counselor or scholarship adviser. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.
  • Ask your friends to see if they are planning to apply and have a college application party- even if you’re planning to go to different colleges.
  • Call or e-mail the college admissions office of the college you’re applying to and ask for help. That’s what they are there for.
  • Ask your parents or other family members for help.
