To celebrate National College Savings Month in September, the Utah Educational Savings Plan (UESP) and StepUp Utah are sponsoring the “Make Your Mark” Bookmark Contest. Eight winners will receive a $1,000 college savings scholarship account from UESP and StepUp Utah.

Open to all Utah students in kindergarten through grade 12, “Make Your Mark” gives you an opportunity to start or add to your savings for higher education through UESP, Utah’s official and only 529 college savings plan. You may also see your professionally reproduced artwork handed out at UESP events across Utah.

The contest runs from Tuesday, September 1, 2015, to Wednesday, September 30, 2015. If you are a Utah resident student and enrolled in a Utah school or are home-schooled, you may submit your original bookmark design on the official UESP and StepUp Utah entry form. It’s available at uesp.org/bookmark. Only one entry per student is allowed. Your parents don’t need to own a UESP account for you to enter. UESP must receive your entry no later than September 30, 2015, at 5:00 p.m., Mountain Time. You can submit your entry by mail, courier, or hand delivery. Address information is printed on the back of the official entry form.bookmarks

A panel of judges that includes Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and First Lady Jeanette Herbert will select two winning designs from each of four grade categories—kindergarten through third grade; fourth through sixth grades; seventh through eighth grades; and ninth through 12th grades. UESP will notify winners by October 26, 2015. All decisions by UESP and the judges are final.

Winners will receive their UESP college savings scholarship account certificates and a professional reproduction of their bookmarks at a ceremonial banquet.
Please note that the contest is not open to past “Make Your Mark” winners or children of a parent employed by or affiliated with the Utah State Board of Regents, Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority, UESP or their advertising agencies.

A complete set of “Make Your Mark” contest rules and restrictions is on the back of the entry form. If you or your parents have questions, visit uesp.org, call us at 800-418-2551, or e-mail us.
